You are probably here because you are worried about STDs.
Perhaps you had an encounter where you put yourself at risk while caught up in the moment.
Perhaps you saw or read something in the media that made you think about your own STD status.
Or you just want to get checked out for your peace of mind.
Well, congratulations in taking an important first step.
To learn more.
My name is Jibril and I have been a pharmacist for 11 years. And in my time I have seen my fair share of patients worried about STDs.
And that makes me happy!
You might wonder, “What the heck?”
Yes, it makes me happy!
Because worrying is the first step to getting checked out.
And not enough people are doing this judging by the RAPID increase in STD diagnosis in the last decade.
STD rates are sky-rocketing across the US.
In 2017, 2.3 MILLION cases of Syphilis, Gonorrhoea, and Chlamydia were diagnosed in the United States.
The highest annual number in US history.
Gonnohrea diagnoses alone increased by a whopping 67%.
And the really scary thing is, the 2 most common STDs ,Gonorrhoea and Chlamydia, usually have NO SYMPTOMS at onset!
You can see now how VITAL it is to get checked out, even if you have no symptoms.
The first way is to go to your own family doctor or local STD clinic, which a sensible step.
Particularly if you have symptoms.
But in today’s busy world, many people struggle to find time away from their day job for this. Some people are even too embarrassed to attend.
If you fall into this group, then home testing may be an option.
Luckily, there are now some wonderful companies which allow you to have an STD screen without you leaving your home.
Who should consider home testing kits?
Want an STD screen but too busy to find time for appointments at local clinic
Too embarrassed to go to a public clinic
No access to healthcare insurance for whatever reason.
Want specific tests that are not available through my doctor, or that my doctor won’t provide.
In a hurry for a test and can’t get an appointment that suits me at my local clinic
There 3 main ones.
Let’s get checked, selfcollect and stdcheck.
But my personal recommendation would be let’s get checked.
Whatever way you decide to get tested.
Just get tested!
If you decide to try home testing I recommend Let’s getchecked.
